Exclusive to RCS Racing, you can now design your own configuration of Radio Controlled Truck!. These trucks come completely ready to run, with no further purchases necessary, but with the flexibility of allowing you to choose your bodyshell style, wheel type, power train and battery!.

Simply choose your options from the selection panel above. you can play with Motor types, body styles and wheels until you find your perfect combination.

All trucks are fully upgradeable, so if you find your budget doesn't stretch to a top-of-the-range truck right now, you can simply go for a lower option and purchase the parts to upgrade later.

These models are high-spec, high-quality, hobby-grade models that are professionally built and run fast on most terrains. They are ready to go straight out of the box.

This model is not to be confused with the entry-level RC cars, sold in supermarket chains, or in the markets. This is a proper RC hobby racing machine! These models are kitted out with 2.4Ghz wheel type controllers that means many models can be raced in the same area without interference. To start you off, we fit all trucks with with an Aluminium centre drive shaft, high spec waterproof electronic speed controller (Brushed or brushless, depending on choice) , twin aluminium capped oil filled shocks on each wheel, All Terrain performance front and rear differentials, fixed radio tray and much more, these Trucks are in a league of their own.

Known as Bug Crushers, these trucks  come fitted with high precision brushed, or brushless parts, including a 540 size motor, Hobbywing or Surpass Hobby waterproof speed controller and your choice of battery pack. The traditional brushed setup gives more than enough power and speed for any serious racer but if you are the kind of person that likes to take things to the extreme then consider a brushless version of the powertrain from the start. Dont forget Brushed models can be easily upgraded later if required.

Which is Better, NiMH or Li-on or Li-Po

We understand that by offering a variety of battery types, this may be confusing, especially if you are new to electric models, or are confused by the differences between NiMH, Li-on and Lipo. Please take a moment to read below to help you decide. You can change battery type at any time in the future, regardless of your chosen power train.

What do the numbers mean?

Apart from the voltage which is usually fixed, there are two numbers to be aware of when choosing a battery. These are the mAh number and the C number. For example, a battery may be listed as 6000mAh 80C.

In simple terms, let's compare these to a water tank, and a bath. So 6000 mAh number is the size of the water tank (how much it can hold). The bigger the mAh number, the bigger the storage tank, and therefore the longer the model runtime before it needs recharging.

The 80C number is the size of the pipe that water (or energy) will flow along. So again the bigger the number, the wider diameter the pipe will be and the quicker water will fill the bath,  or in this case, electricity will flow. this will usually have an effect on the acceleration rate of the model rather than top speed. most NiMH batteries will not have a C number as they cannot provide a burst of power.

While one isn't technically "better" than the other, there are a number of significant differences between the three chemistries. On the performance scale, Li-ion and Li-po batteries outperform NiMH in most categories. They have a longer overall life cycle of five years, compared to the NiMH life cycle of two to three years. Li-ion and lipo batteries also charge much faster, perform better in extreme temperatures and hold their charge for much longer than NiMH batteries. Lipo batteries, are the technology used in commercial electric cars, and are much better at providing continual prolonged performance.

All batteries should be charged in a ventilated area, and if possible in a shed or outside building. It is good practice to use a battery-safe bag, which is a fireproof bag designed to contain a fire and give you time to react accordingly in the event of a fire. Li-on and Li-po batteries must not be left fully charged for prolonged periods of time (over a week) as they can start to degrade and swell. in this case, the battery must be discarded, as it could be a fire risk.

NiMH options, on the other hand, are much lower in cost than Li-ion and Lipo batteries. They need very little maintenance and are more environmentally friendly.

All depleted batteries, batteries that have swelled, or been damaged must be disposed of at an appropriate facility.

Whats the difference between Brushed and Brushless?

In simple terms, traditional brushed technology has been around for many years, and is the technology used in early Tamiya, and other electric RC cars. Typically they tend to be silver motors, open at one end to allow air flow. These are still valid for today, and are very reliable motors. They provide long lasting diriveability with an excellent response time. The top speed of a brushed motor is directly related to the voltage provided.Typically they will be fitted with two wires to connect to the speed controller (ESC)

There are a couple of downsides to a brushed motor. Being mechanically based, with motor brushes, they tend to use more power than the modern brushless,  and therefore reduce the runtime from a battery. Also being open on one end, they are not fully waterproof, and can suffer long term from internal corrosion.

Brushless motors, tend to be more expensive than brushed motors as the build quality is much higher, and with a more precise feel (less play in the rotor). They consume less power than a brushed motor and will give a longer run time for the battery. Normally fitted with three wires, it is not possible to upgrade from a brushed motor to a brushless without also changing the speed controller (ESC).Brushless motors are elctrically driven with magnetic technology so there are fewer parts to wear out, and are usually fully waterproof.

All RCS Racing models are fitted with a 3650KV motor. This is a good mid range motor which provides good acceleration with an impressive top speed. The speed of a brushless motor is determined by its KV rating. for more information on the KV rating and what it means please  click here.

The downsides to brushless motors are very few, with the exception of burning out through excessive heat load. Whilst this is rare, the motor can be burned out if run too hot, so always allow time for your model to cool down between runs.
